Through the years, we have completed hundreds of design-build remodels throughout the greater peninsula area. One of our remodels was even recognized by Redwood City officials as Remodel of the Year in 2002. The following projects will give you an idea of some of the work we do. The remodeling of this 74 year-old home won Redwood City's Best Interior Remodel of the Year award in 2001. The redesign was based on modernity and functionality blended with some of the original design features of the original home. For example, a second storey was added and concrete kitchen counter tops were installed, while some of the original hardwood floors were restored and the original terra cotta roof tiles, which were beautifully antiqued, were preserved for a Mediterranean touch.
Pueblo style design

The pueblo-style design for this newly constructed home was chosen because of its substantial cost savings. For example, the inexpensive roof associated with this design saved thousands of dollars, which the residents were able to apply towards interior upgrades. The unique challenge with this home was building it on a new foundation consisting of a couple dozen piles that were sunk to a depth of 35 feet into the earth. This was necessary, since the original foundation had been built on an existing landfill that proved unstable.

The construction of this home was from the ground up, except for a single wall along the fence line. By leaving an original wall, we enabled the residents to bypass contemporary, more restricting county ordinances, which ultimately enabled more flexibility with the design of the home.
1889 home

This home was originally built in 1889 as a photography studio. With such a home, it's challenging to maintain the historic integrity of the house, while trying to bring the actual structure up to par. Some of the framing in the original walls was scrapped together with old fence posts and laths! Our goal with this design was to make the structure more livable by opening up the congested interior. After knocking down several walls, widening doorways, and adding windows, the home is now more inviting with a stronger diffusion of lighting throughout and a better "flow" from front to back.
